Colour with flowers

Posted on 04/09/2017

Spring is in the air in Sydney, beautiful warm sunny days and balmy breezes. Have you thought about adding colour using flowers in interesting places?

This is the view from my kitchen window, typical suburbia looking out at neighbours. Quite unexpectedly, this beautiful nasturtium grew over our fence from our neighbour. I love it – orange and yellow are positive, happy colours and contrast with the quiet green. It makes me smile whenever I look at it while I’m washing up! It also softens the look of the fence and makes the nasturtiums the focal point rather than the fence so the fence blends into the background.

Orange and yellow are great colours for feeling uplifted and positive. If you’re going to use a climbing vine anywhere, check with your nursery to see how aggressive it is and if its easy to remove if you need to. This nasturtium is fairly easy to remove if we need to.

Have an amazing week!
