How to create your own calm space at home

Posted on 25/07/202325/07/2023

We all need a peaceful spot to reset and relax

We all need somewhere quiet to unwind, read a book, just “be”, or meditate – away from the hustle and bustle of life. A place to spend at least 5 minutes to reset and unwind to balance our mind and body to be able to be the best person we can be.

But I don’t have space, I hear you say.

Your special space can be a nook that’s free, a corner in the living room, or anywhere else that you can find.

This is my quiet space, it’s in the corner of my bedroom.

It’s important to include things that have a good memory, are special to you, and lift your energy. To explain mine.

I love crystals, their colours and patterns.
Flowers because they are beautiful, I love them and these are artificial so long lasting!
One blanket that I made, and one blanket made by a special aunt
One toy from my travels, and one toy that was a special gift
My visionboard with dreams and goals, space to add inspiring images and quotes. This quote is from a John C Maxwell book that I read “Know my purpose in life, Grow to reach my maximum potential, Sow seeds that benefit others”.
My room is clutter free and tidy, to give my mind space to rest.

In the evenings I sit in my space and read, or meditate. Looking at my visions board keeps my goals in my thoughts and reminds me to work on achieving them.

How to create your own space?

Define the purpose for your space – meditation, relaxing, reading, journaling
Find a spot that is clear of clutter – really important to keep your mind clear, quiet and focussed. No kids toys, no washing that needs folding, no piles of books or newspapers!!
The spot needs to feel good to you
Add some things that make have good memories for you or are special
If inspired, add some beautiful images that you love
Write down and dedicate time each day, even if you have 5 minutes, to spend in your special space.

The time you spend in your special space will help to clear your mind, nurture your soul know that you are worth spending the time there to regenerate, renew, relax and breath – taking time from your busy life and just “be”.

Enjoy create your own special space.
